A Guide To BCDs ? Your Personal Marine Elevator!

The Evolution of Buoyancy Compensation (No Win, No Fee!) I?ve written about buoyancy before, where I extolled the virtues of learning and mastering perfect neutral buoyancy. I am of the staunch opinion that well maintained buoyancy is the doorway to excellent diving. The issue with this is that our bodies (read: lungs) are incapable of [...]

There's little chance Lesnar leaves UFC to wrestle full-time

Oh you silly blogosphere. Once a rumor starts it often spins out of control on the Internet.

Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer spoke about Brock Lesnar's future on his Monday radio show. Meltzer, who also covers MMA right here on Yahoo!, said Lesnar has an exit plan in mind for his future. Somehow that turned into:

Brock Lesnar Rumored To Be Looking For A Way Out Of The UFC

Brock Lesnar Rumored To Be Interested in Leaving UFC for WrestleMania 27

Brock Lesnar Leaving UFC Rumors: Will Brock Really Go Down as a Quitter?

Brock Lesnar Leaving UFC Reports: Why UFC Will Be Okay Without Him

Meltzer clarifies his statements and says there's almost no chance Lesnar will return to wrestling full time. The former WWE star wants the best of both worlds. He desires the easy payday at Wrestlemania 27 and wants to continue making the big bucks in MMA. What are the chances Dana White will cooperate?

UFC moves prelims to ION TV

The UFC and Spike have had a great relationship over the years. Has it changed?

Monday night, MMAjunkie broke the story that the UFC 125 prelims will air on ION Television. Fans may also see three fights instead of the normal two.

Dana White indicated that he can't guarantee all three will make it to television.

"The prelims we do air, there's only supposed to be two," White said. "Time-wise, it's impossible to pull off three if they all go to the distance. I'm going to roll the dice on this thing.

"Not only are we going to bring the prelims to the fans, but everybody has been hammering me for the Phil Baroni-Brad Tavares fight, so I'm going to do three fights. I'm going to give them that fight, too."

This is something the UFC president was hoping for.

"I always try to give the fans as much as I can give them," White said. "I love being able to give them free fights. That's always been my goal and my model with this thing since day one.

"I grew up watching free fights in TV with boxing, and I loved it. I was a huge fan. I always try to give the fans as much as I can."

The Spike relationship produced 12 seasons of "The Ultimate Fighter," 34 free Ultimate Fight Night and TUF Finale cards, and the live prelims at several recent pay-per-view events. The promotion and network seemed to have run into a snag recently.

"We're going to talk to [ION] and see what's up," White said. "This might be a regular thing.

"Listen, it's a ballsy move to go on network with prelims, but the Ion guys are the real deal. We're going to see if we can make it happen with them."

Shinya Aoki embarrasses himself in brutal loss at Dynamite!! 2010

Shinya Aoki is one of the world's best fighters at 155 pounds but there are times you wonder if his mind strays. He accepted a ridiculous fight at K-1's year ender and paid the price.

After a round fought under kickboxing rules, Aoki tried a sloppy a shot and got destroyed by a knee to the face from Yuichiro Nagashima. Aoki was out cold for several minutes. He made it less than 15 seconds into the second round.

Aoki (on the left) acted like a clown in the opening round. The three-minute long round, waged under K-1 rules but with four ounce gloves. Aoki tried to avoid a real fight by illegally clinching and throwing Nagashima to the mat. He also tried several  goofy pro wrestling-style dropkicks, and attempted to vault himself off the ropes a few times. The result of the shenanigans was Aoki falling to the floor and wasting away the round.

Apparently, Nagashima expected a quick shot in the second and was waiting to deliver that big knee. In 2009, some considered Aoki the No. 1 lightweight in the world. He lost a one-sided fight to Gilbert Melendez in 2010 and now this debacle.

"We should have it done by Friday," White said at a press conference in Rio de Janeiro, where he announced that the UFC would host a fight card in Brazil in August.

MMA Marketplace: Get your WEC goods while you can

Excuse me for being a little nostalgic over the last WEC show tonight. I've always had a soft spot for this promotion with their reliably exciting cards and kind and personable fighters. I'm sure this twinge of nostalgia will continue well after the final horn is sounded on Ben Henderson vs. Anthony Pettis and Scott Jorgensen vs. Dominick Cruz. One way to indulge in that is to get some WEC gear before it can only be found on eBay.

The UFC Store has markdowns on much of the WEC apparel. The blue sherpa sweatshirt is just $31.97 and the t-shirt is just $11.97. You can even get the best of the WEC DVD for less than $15, which is an absolute steal when you get: Torres vs. Mizugaki, McCullough vs. Cerrone, Faber vs. Pulver I and many other amazing fights.

Proposed Strikeforce heavyweight tournament is a waste of time?

Showtime did a damn good job of putting and then holding together its Super Six tournament for 168-pounders in boxing. Why can't the network and Scott Coker find the answers for a heavyweight tournament in MMA?

Kid Nate over at Bloody Elbow says a tournament with Alistair Overeem, Fedor Emelianenko, Fabricio Werdum, Josh Barnett, Andrei Arlovski, Antonio Silva, Sergei Kharitonov, and Brett Rogers would be "hot."

He leads us to FightOpinion where common sense reigns on this dream tourney:

Between (the news that Fedor won't fight in January) and the fact that Josh Barnett still isn't licensed to fight in California and Alistair Overeem has K-1 obligations and you're looking at a Heavyweight tournament consisting of guys like Brett Rogers and Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva. In other words, if Strikeforce tries to put together a Heavyweight tournament, it will fall apart before it even begins.

Zach Arnold says stop jerking around with unrealistic goals and simply make fights:

At this point, all I want to see from Strikeforce is competency. Forget about booking a tournament. Forget about any elaborate plans for 2011. Produce the fights that people want to see and do so in a timely manner. This is a results-oriented business. The rematch between Fedor and Werdum, if there was going to be one, should have happened before the end of 2010. It didn't. The fact that Fedor's camp is even negotiating with Strikeforce and showing strength after the loss to Werdum is amazing. Nobody knows when Werdum or Overeem (or Barnett) is going to fight next. Who's left?

Coker's a smart guy, but are these bloggers correct? Should Strikeforce scrap the idea? If we put aside the UFC, can we actually say boxing is healthier now than MMA when it comes to matchmaking? Strikeforce has a really good collection of heavyweights yet most of them are fighting once a year. Where are the fights?

Dana White pays for infant's life-saving surgery

UFC president Dana White has a brash exterior. He's known for being a tough negotiator, saying what he thinks, and dropping f-bombs at will. It turns out that he also has a heart of gold. White stepped up to pay for a life-saving surgery for the 7-month-old daughter of a popular Thai MMA trainer at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket.

UFC fighters like Mike Swick and Jon Fitch have relied on Tiger Muay Thai to improve their striking game, and instructor Kru Nai has helped several top fighters. His daughter Tuptim was diagnosed with bilary obstruction, a serious liver condition. A surgery could save her life, but it cost $50,000. Without it, she was given just weeks to live.

The MMA community came together to try to raise money for her surgery. To bring attention to the issue, a poster on the Underground, a popular MMA message board, asked White to give the cash:

Mr. DANA WHITE, If you are a true ambassador for the sport.....PAY FOR THIS SURGERY!!!

Please help, no donation to small........the clock is ticking

That's exactly what White is doing. He confirmed to Yahoo! Sports on Monday that he will pay for Tuptim's surgery.

"I was reading the Underground and saw it and clicked on it and I don't know, I just did. She needs it fast, so I did it,"  White said via text.

Kudos to the White for stepping up and helping out. White's generosity to the Nai family makes him better than Santa Claus.

WEC 53 Results: Kamal Shalorus Beats Bart Palaszewski

by Michael David SmithKamal Shalorus used great wrestling and a dominant ground-and-pound display to dominate Bart Palaszewski in the first round of their fight at WEC 53, then slowed down but hung on well enough to win a split decision.

"I put all my strength into finishing him," Shalorus said of the way he slowed down after that great first round. "I will show you an exciting fight next time."

For Shalorus, the next time will be in the UFC. Palaszewski, however, may not be joining him there after the UFC absorbs the WEC.

The 11 things MMA fans want to see in 2011

Looking ahead to the new year, Cagewriter is turning it up to eleven. In no particular order, here are the 11 things MMA needs for 2011.

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Alistair Overeem: Despite his loss to Fabricio Werdum, the negotiations just to get Fedor fighting in the U.S. again have been treacherous, and now it seems that he will fight Antonio Silva. Meanwhile, Overeem has kept busy making history in K-1. Strikeforce has two of the best heavyweights in the world on their roster. It should not be difficult to get them to fight.

Improved judging: How many fighters need to get screwed by judges before changes are made in MMA's judging system? As the sport continues to grow and improve, parity will follow and more fights will require a judges' call. These fighters deserve competent judges.

A challenge for Jose Aldo: The featherweight champ looked head and shoulders above Faber and Manny Gamburyan in 2010. As fun as it is to watch Aldo beat up on his opponents, someone who challenges him could be much more fun.

Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber coaching on "The Ultimate Fighter": This match-up is full of win. Bantamweights Cruz and Faber are top-flight fighters, already dislike each other, and both come from camps that would provide excellent coaches and training partner cameos. Going with smaller fighters would not only invigorate the TUF franchise, it would also introduce a larger MMA audience to the WEC fighters joining the UFC.

Jason "Mayhem" Miller vs. Nick Diaz: Enough with the trash talk, the viral videos and the catchphrases. Strikeforce needs to make this fight happen.

Georges St. Pierre vs. Anderson Silva: The two have been at the top of pound-for-pound rankings for years, and are just one weight class apart. GSP has asked for time to put on weight to fight Silva, who walks around at more than 200 lbs. UFC, give him time, and then let's make this fight happen.

Legal MMA in New York: Seriously, Empire State. Get your act together and legalize MMA. It's ludicrous for a state with a rich history of boxing and wrestling not to allow mixed martial arts.

A rejuvenated Brock Lesnar: Losing his title to Cain Velasquez exposed Lesnar's distaste for getting punched in the face, a liability for someone whose job involves getting punched in the face. It will be fascinating to see how Lesnar reacts to being an underdog, and watching to see if he has the resolve to come back should be an interesting storyline.

More pre and post-fight shows: Here at Yahoo! Sports, there was a pre-fight show for UFC 121. ESPN's "MMA Live" did pre and post-fight shows for UFC 116 and 121, and Versus had shows for the final two WEC events. Every one of these shows added to the MMA viewing experience.

Gilbert Melendez vs. Eddie Alvarez: To compete with the UFC juggernaut, the smart thing for Strikeforce and Bellator would be to team up to make the best fights. This should start with a bout between their two lightweight champions. Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney probably ended any hopes for this bout with overzealous negotiation tactics, but it still would be a fun fight for fans to watch.

More Pat Miletich on the microphone: The man is both a legendary coach and fighter, and now he uses his talents as a commentator for Strikeforce. Inexplicably, he isn't always included on their broadcast team. Please, give us more Pat.

COGNIZANT TECH SOLUTIONS COMCAST COMMSCOPE

When will Nelson fight? This video only confuses more

Roy Nelson is on the shelf for a while or is he? Inside MMA needed to bring Roger Cossack on board to navigate this story. Nelson is being sued by Square Ring Inc. for a contract signed before his fight against Jeff Monson in March of 2009. Nelson then accepted a slot on Season 9 of "The Ultimate Fighter." That's where things get fuzzy.

Apparently, SRI believes it holds promotional rights for Nelson and the fighter violated the deal by working out a deal with Zuffa. But there's a lot more to the story that the casual viewer should know.

The IMMA interview is incredibly misleading in several ways. Roy Jones is made into the villain. That's really not the case. Square Ring Inc. is a legitimate promoter in the world of boxing, so it's not Jones simply trying to screw over the MMA fighter.

Secondly, Nelson was working in a matchmaking capacity for the promotion after his March of 2009 fight. According to the Fight Lawyer blog, Square Ring built its lawsuit around a short conversation between the UFC's Marc Ratner and Nelson at a May 2009 MMA event in Primm, Nev.

On or about May 24, 2009, Defendant's Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs, Mr. Marc Ratner, attended the Primm Event. Plaintiff s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. John Wirt, spoke with Mr. Ratner at the Primm Event and told Mr. Ratner that Mr. Nelson was not only assisting SRI's matchmaker for the MMA bouts on the Primm Event, but also that Mr. Nelson was under contract with SRI as a fighter. Mr. Ratner also spoke separately with Mr. Nelson while at the Primm Event.

In the end, it sounds like the lawyers have to figure out some cash settlement Nelson will have to send the way of Square Ring.

Check out the interview and then read the take from the Fight Lawyer. SRI probably has a case and Nelson is far from a fighter getting bullied by Jones. Hopefully, the financial terms can be worked out quickly so Nelson can get back into the Octagon sooner rather than later. Because of his fighting style, appearance and ability to promote a fight, just about every high level UFC heavyweight is calling out the mulleted-mammoth. Nelson's tale should serve as a lesson to all MMA fighters outside the UFC. Get a lawyer before you sign any contract!

Japan's Christmas gift for MMA fans: 'The Reem' vs. Duffee

If the fight stinks, at least the postfight posedown will thrill the fans at Dynamite!! 2010. Japanese promoters have delivered an opponent for Alistair Overeem on their year-end MMA card, it's fellow muscleman Todd Duffee. What a holiday gift to close out the year.

Duffee has been in limbo since his mysterious axing from the UFC back in September. The 6-foot-3, 252-pounder was considered one of the UFC's best heavyweight prospects. After putting a first-round beatdown on Mike Russow, Duffee gassed and was shocked via knockout in the third. Four months later, he was cut by the UFC with a 1-1 record.

FanHouse confirmed Thursday morning that the 25-year-old will face Overeem on Jan. 31 in Saitama, Japan (HDNet).

HeadKickLegend reports that Duffee will be paid $60,000 to show and an additional bonus if he pulls the upset. HKL also says Bobby Lashley turned down an Overeem fight over financial concerns.

Overeem, the Strikeforce heavyweight champ, is riding an eight-fight win streak that dates to 2007. His last MMA fight was a walkover in May against Brett Rogers in St. Louis.

On New Year's Eve, he'll be just 20 days removed from fighting three times in one night at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2010.

This is MMA fight No. 45 for Overeem and only Duffee's eighth. Is it too soon?

The youngster has everything to gain. Hopefully, he's corrected some of his gas-tank issues because Overeem can go hard for 15 minutes and has huge knockout power.

Duffee will also have to deal with a long trip to Japan. Let's hope he has only good things to say about DREAM's promoters on the way to the fight.

Noons won't lower himself to fight Daley

Strikeforce has struck gold with Paul Daley. The big-mouthed Brit has fists of steel and backs it up with a brash attitude. He let his temper get the best of him at UFC 113 when he sucker punched Josh Koscheck. The UFC fired him on the spot, but he's rebounded quickly with Strikeforce.

Daley scored of a Knockout of the Year candidate two weeks ago over Scott Smith, and now Strikeforce is looking for the next opponent who can stand and bang with him.

KJ Noons fancies himself as the best boxer at 155 and 170 pounds in MMA. He's also got a big mouth. This could be a nice promotion for early 2011. One problem, Noons says Daley is a nobody.

"He’s like the black eye of MMA, this guy’s the leftovers of the UFC. I’m surprised Strikeforce even picked him up," Daley told MMAWeekly.com. "He’s trying to make his name so of course he’s going to call somebody out that beat Nick Diaz. That’s how he’s trying to get his name out there."

Noons has his finger on the pulse of what the fans wants.

"Of course it would be exciting to watch me knockout Paul Daley. Everybody would want to see that, but the thing is nobody wants to see Paul Daley," said Noons.

Huh? That contradictory statement aside, Noons is wise to pass on the fight.

He's a lightweight and that's where he should concentrate his efforts. Daley is too big for him. The Diaz bout was a nice novelty fight and a necessary rematch, but Noons needs to stay down and establish dominance at 155.

Noons also thinks Daley is asking for it, if he keeps calling out Diaz.

"If he fights Nick, that’s an easy win for Nick in my book," said Noons. "I think that’s why Nick’s going to take the fight, easy win for Nick Diaz. Paul Daley won’t even make it to the championship rounds with Nick Diaz."

In spite of what Noons thinks, that is a fight that would sell big with MMA fans. The lead-up to the card would be dynamite and Diaz would probably be stubborn and trade the entire time with the one-dimensional Daley.

Meltzer says UFC is having difficulty with Lesnar's future

Maybe there was something to that little exchange between the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar following his fight at UFC 121. The rumors are swirling around Lesnar, the former UFC heavyweight champ and WWE star.

Some say the UFC wants Lesnar to take part as a coach on Season 13 of "The Ultimate Fighter." Others say Lesnar doesn't want to be involved with very much involving MMA right now. This report was written after listening to Pro Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer:

Lesnar reportedly hasn't talked with anyone from UFC or answered their phone calls since losing the UFC Heavyweight Title to Cain Velasquez last month. Sources also say that Lesnar hasn't began to prepare for his next UFC fight and hasn't trained since losing to Velasquez.

It's said that Lesnar has lost some interest in MMA and has been been re-considering his future in the sport after his loss to Velasquez and the beating he took in the win against Shane Carwin before that.

Lesnar reportedly has only one fight left on his contract. Could it be that the Wrestlemania appearance, which he could make upwards of $2 million for, is the hold up? Is Lesnar really thinking about bailing on MMA after just one bad loss?

Dana White fires the fans for Fight of the Night fail

The UFC tried something neat tonight by allowing the fans to hand out some bonus money. There was a lot on line. With a near-record gate of $4.586 million, the UFC was handing out $100,000 each to the fighters that the fans said put on the Fight of the Night.

Slap Cagewriter on the back, we called it.

When the news first emerged shortly before the start of UFC 124, we asked if the fans would judge objectively or turn it into a popularity contest?

We got our answer. Georges St. Pierre's destruction of Josh Koscheck (50-45 on all cards) was given the fan's nod as the best fight.

"The reporters aren't happy with it," Dana White joked at the postfight press conference. "It's one of the hazards. (The fans) are always chirping about how we mess it up and here we are."

White thought the real Fight of the Night was on the preliminary card. Sean Pierson and Matt Riddle beat the living hell out of each for three rounds.

The UFC and White even tried to give the fans a gentle nudge by showing the fight on the pay-per-view.

If you cast a vote at UFCvote.com, hope you enjoyed the chance to be the boss, now you're fired.

"They blew their chance," White said. "That's it. It's over."

White said he'd take care of Pierson and Riddle. White also joked with St. Pierre telling him that he owes $100,000 to his buddy Pierson.

MMA Top 10 Welterweights: No End in Sight to GSP's Dominance

by Michael David SmithGeorges St. Pierre whipped Josh Koscheck for five rounds at UFC 124, bringing to 30 his streak of consecutive rounds won. Think about that: St. Pierre has fought the best of the best in the welterweight division, and although you can knock him for not finishing most of his recent fights, even the wildly inconsistent judges we have in MMA these days couldn't find a reason to score a single round against him over 30 rounds of action.

So when does that change? Jake Shields has dominated a whole lot of opponents himself recently, winning 15 straight fights including eight by stoppage and five by unanimous decision. But while Shields is certainly worthy of his title shot, it's extremely difficult to envision him actually beating St. Pierre, who does just about everything better than Shields. I could very easily see St. Pierre beating Shields by yet another unanimous decision, 50-45 all the way around.

And so as we rank the Top 10 welterweights in MMA, we're left wondering if any of them have what it takes to end GSP's reign.

WEC 53's Three Stars: Pettis, Wineland and Cruz

The WEC went out with a bang on Thursday night, leaving MMA fans with memories of crazy kicks, talented fighters and another reliably exciting card. Who rose above?

No. 1 star -- Anthony Pettis: This was an easy choice. Pettis won the WEC lightweight belt by realizing that he was in a razor-close fight, and then hitting one of the craziest moves MMA fans have ever seen. His off-the-wall kick made Sportscenter's top plays and was nothing short of Matrix-esque. The scary thing about Pettis is that he's just 23 years old.

No. 2 star -- Eddie Wineland: The WEC's first bantamweight champ closed the promotion with a humongous slam knockout of Ken Stone. His first-round KO was Wineland's fourth win in a row. Though Urijah Faber is the obvious next contender for Dominick Cruz's belt, Wineland is making a case to be in the upper echelon of the UFC bantamweights.

No. 3 star -- Dominick Cruz: The new UFC bantamweight champ didn't finish Scott Jorgensen, but that has more to do with Jorgensen's stone chin than Cruz's lack of ability. Cruz executed a perfect gameplan, sticking and moving throughout the entire fight and taking down Jorgensen with ease. On Twitter last night, I heard fans say that Cruz didn't engage, and that's just crazy talk. Cruz engaged; Jorgensen just couldn't keep up with him. For those who don't like his quick-footed style ... haters gonna hate

A special mention to the WEC: World Extreme Cagefighting earned the reputation of always giving fans exciting cards. Last night was no different. Though the main card had a few less-than-exciting rounds, the main events delivered. As that promotion ends and gives way to the UFC, one last kudos to the little promotion that could.

Springtime Gold

THQ TEXAS INSTRUMENTS TERADATA

Where would MMA be without Chuck Liddell?

Certain athletes can carry a sport to the next level. Was Chuck Liddell "that guy" for MMA and the UFC?

Has MMA really arrived yet? Maybe. Maybe not. It is safe to say the sport might be still be struggling badly if it weren't for "The Iceman's" contributions in and out of the Octagon.

Liddell arrived on the scene at UFC 17 in 1998. He had the look, with the mohawk haircut and a scowl, plus a love of the standup game. If you think some fans complain now about the ground game, imagine trying to sell MMA back in 1998 to an audience that only wanted blood and guts, and was raised on watching boxers duke it out.

Liddell produced huge wins over Randy Couture at UFC 52 and 57. He also put an exclamation point on his war with Tito Ortiz by crushing him at UFC 66. That 2007 event was the first time the UFC passed the one million mark in pay-per-view buys on a single card.

There was a lot of work outside the cage that led to that moment.

Liddell, along with Dana White, basically went on a barnstorming media tour for three years.

My radio show in Las Vegas had Liddell on at least a half-dozen times.

The future champ signed autographs and made appearances all over the U.S., even if only a few dozen people showed up in the early going. But it was that grassroots effort, which Liddell took part in wholeheartedly, that laid the groundwork for what we see today. Now a "disappointing" UFC PPV draws 350,000 buys (numbers the company would have been thrilled with during the dark era) and the company is reportedly worth in excess of $1 billion.

The sport is also all over cable television. Remember the days when holding a UFC card outside of Las Vegas seemed like just a dream? In 2010, the promotion hit 18 different cities in six different countries.

Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar are given a lot of the credit, and rightly so, for saving the company in 2005 with their scrap at the first "The Ultimate Fighter Finale." Don't forget it was Liddell, along with Couture, who coached that first season. It was a reality show that the promotion and participants didn't even know would make it onto television. What if Liddell, who was becoming a big star at that point, had an inflated ego and said he didn't want to do it? What was the fallback plan?

In the cage, Liddell dominated the American MMA landscape in 2005-06. As his career was winding down, he became a crossover star on shows like "The Simpsons" and "Dancing With The Stars."

Liddell probably shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as other sports greats like Jack Dempsey, Bill Russell/Wilt Chamberlain, Dale Earnhardt, Johnny Unitas, Babe Ruth. But 25 years from now, he'll be looked upon fondly by those who'll remember the early days of MMA when it was an absolute zero on the sports landscape.

Throughout the day, we'll post some old interviews we did with Liddell from 2004-2009.

Aug. 2004 - Liddell talks about his fight at UFC 49.

Oct. of 2006 - Liddell and Matt Hughes before UFC 64.

Dec. 2006 -- While cutting weight joined us to talk about Tito fight before UFC 66

Sept. 2007 -- Before UFC 76 and after his loss to Quinton Jackson

Apr. 2009 - Liddell before his fight against Mauricio Rua at UFC 97.

Dominick Cruz Whips Scott Jorgensen, Earns UFC Bantamweight Belt

by Michael David SmithDominick Cruz destroyed Scott Jorgensen at WEC 53, winning an easy unanimous decision to defend his World Extreme Cagefighting bantamweight title and enter the UFC as its first bantamweight champion.

"I had a chip on my shoulder because a lot of people didn't believe in me," Cruz said. "Now, I think people believe."

Cruz, who improved to 17-1, is likely to face Urijah Faber in the first UFC bantamweight title fight. Faber is the only man ever to defeat Cruz, and Cruz said he wants a shot at revenge.

"I'm ready to fight Urijah," Cruz said. "Let's do it."

UFC 124's Three Stars: St. Pierre, Miller and Alves

After months and months of build-up, UFC 124 finally happened, and all that's left is a fractured orbital bone. Who rose above the rest?

No. 1 star -- Georges St. Pierre: The thing that's so impressive about GSP is not his consecutive streak of wins, title defenses or rounds won. It's that he continues to add to his arsenal. Just as Michael Jordan added a fadeaway jumper later in his career, GSP continues to employ new weapons in the Octagon. After showing off his mastery of wrestling against Thiago Alves and Dan Hardy, GSP debuted a brutal jab to dominate Josh Koscheck. He continually grows as a fighter, and that's why he's the one with the gold, shiny belt around his waist.

No. 2 star -- Jim Miller: I'll admit it. When coming up with the top lightweights in this loaded division of the UFC, I didn't always think of Jim Miller, even though his only losses are to Gray Maynard and champion Frankie Edgar. That stops here. Miller stopped the Charles Oliveira hype train dead on the tracks, earning Miller his sixth win in a row.

No. 3 star -- Thiago Alves: The Alves who had trouble cutting weight and looked sluggish against Jon Fitch was a distant memory on Saturday night. He looked energetic for every second of his decision win over John Howard, something Alves attributes to a better diet and smarter life choices.

Honorable mention -- Montreal: The city deserves kudos for continuing to break attendance records, loudly supporting the fighters and getting just as excited about their fourth MMA event as they were for their first.

Who are your three stars from UFC 124?
